Why Within My Means exists
Within My Means was inspired by the same struggles you may be facing: trying to make big financial decisions without losing sight of everyday life. I built this methodology to work through those decisions for myself, and wanted to share it so others could explore their options with more clarity.

Start with your own limits
Our calculators are free to use. Change the assumptions, compare combinations, and see what puts pressure on your cash or monthly budget. You do not need to request a report to use them.
Optional one-time housing and college reports research options against your preferences. Housing reports cost $4 and college reports cost $2. Vehicle planning is currently available as a calculator.
How the work is done
Code calculates costs and applies budget rules. Report research combines cached public information, listing or institution sources, and AI-assisted interpretation. Missing evidence should remain a question to check, rather than become an assumed fact.
AI can misinterpret a source, public records can be out of date, and a listing can change after a search. We show tradeoffs and items to verify so you can take the next step with the seller, institution, or qualified professional.
What a result means
A comfortable budget fit is an estimate under your assumptions. It is not a loan approval, an admission decision, a financial-aid award, or a guarantee that an option is available. Your priorities and circumstances remain part of the decision.
